Two people killed in midstate Georgia boating accidents

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is investigating two separate boating accidents during the weekend that left two people dead.
Two boats collided about 10 p.m. Friday on Jackson Lake in Butts County, killing a passenger, Capt. Barry Fincher, DNR region supervisor, said this morning.

Then Sunday, two boats hit head on at 2 a.m. on Jackson Lake in Jasper County, and a passenger died, Fincher said.

Fincher said night patrol will be beefed up in response to the fatalities.
