6/27/05 23-Year-Old Lubbock Man Dies In Lake Whitney Boating Collision (KCBD-TV) A weekend on the lake turned tragic for a Lubbock family, and Tuesday the family will bury their 23-year-old son. Jeffrey Mankin died Friday after a boating accident near Waco. He was riding a personal water craft and collided head-on with another water craft at Lake Whitney, 30 miles north of Waco.
