Lawyers on both sides were disappointed when a federal jury awarded more than $12.5 million to a Pennsylvania polyurethane manufacturer in its dispute with Bayer Corp. over allegedly faulty pieces of factory equipment. The plaintiff was hoping for an award of more than $500 million, but Bayer's defense team argued that the evidence supported an award under $1 million. Hopes for a huge verdict were dashed when the jury rejected the plaintiff's fraud claim, foreclosing the possibility of punitive damages. | | | |
