JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The operator and a passenger who died in a fatal boating accident Sunday night were intoxicated, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigators said Wednesday.
Investigators said the boat hit one dock, ejecting the younger Christy, then continued on, struck another dock and wedged under a boat lift, killing Streat and injuring the elder Christy.
Brett Christy remains in critical condition at Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center. We have seen in the past Florida Fish and Wildlife have a strict procedure for chain of custody and analysis of blood alcohol. Of course, in these matters, there can be a lot of debate about blood alcohol testing and validity.
There is little doubt that alcohol will affect reaction times and vision if used in excess.
