NEW SIGNS URGE BOATERS TO HELP PROTECT ENDANGERED RIGHT WHALES

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD), the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are posting signs at various marinas and boat ramps along the Georgia, Florida and South Carolina coasts to remind boaters that whales may be in the area during winter months. North Atlantic right whales winter and calve off the coast of the Southeastern United States, and boaters are being urged to do their part to protect this critically endangered species.
