Manatee deaths on the rise, FWC steps up patrols (WBBH) LEE COUNTY — New numbers out from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission show manatee deaths are on the rise and the majority are dying in Southwest Florida. Because of the numbers, FWC officers are stepping up patrols in manatee speed zones.
