Paul Trimble, 92, was a vice admiral in the U.S. Coast Guard (Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune) Paul Trimble had to hitchhike from Milaca, Minn., to St. Paul to take the entrance exam for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1932. When Trimble passed the exam and needed a $200 entry fee, his family of four siblings and a hardworking mother didn't have it.
