Friday Nov 18, 2005 (Rockland Village Soup) ALEXANDRIA, VA. (Nov 18): Drowning accounted for 70 percent of the 703 boating fatalities in the United States in 2003. Of the drowning victims, 86 percent were not wearing life jackets. The U.S. Coast Guard estimated that 400 of those lives may have been saved if more people had used life jackets.
