Hollywood, Florida - Investigators are searching for the boater who struck and killed a snorkeler in the waters off Hollywood. Ghaleb Tayfour of Sunrise had been snorkeling with a friend Saturday night. Authorities say a 25- to 30-foot white motorboat collided with the 26-year-old as he surfaced, and kept going. Tayfour died of his injuries. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a divers-down flag was found in the area, but it's not known if it was being used properly. Under Florida law, vessels must stay at least 100 feet away from a divers-down flag in rivers, inlets or navigation channels. The legal distance is 300 feet in waters outside those areas. Family members say Tayfour was close to completing his master's degree in biology at Florida Atlantic University.
