DES MOINES, Iowa -- A man who is being held in connection with a fatal hit-and-run boat crash is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
Justin Allen Nearman, 29, of Sioux Falls, S.D., will appear in court Wednesday to hear the charges against him.
Officers with the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Task Force made an arrest at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Brandon, S.D., on a warrant issued, a news release said.
The warrant was for operating a motorboat while intoxicated resulting in the death of another person, and once he is back in Iowa, he will be charged with the class B felony.
Nearman faces up to 30 years in prison. He is being held on $42,250 bond.
Authorities said that charges are not expected to be filed against the 21-year-old passenger in Nearman's boat.
Authorities said the boat that Nearman was driving was not his boat, but they said forensics linked him to the boat.
Perry dentist Michael Brosnahan was killed on Aug. 12 in West Lake Okoboji when his boat was rammed from behind.
His wife, Jill, was seriously injured and is now out of the hospital.
Police said they found the boat involved in the crash eight days later, on Aug. 20.
Brosnahan's funeral was Monday in West Des Moines, and he was buried Tuesday.
