A lawyer who told a client he had won a $1.1 million medical malpractice settlement, when no suit had even been filed, paid a heavy price last week for the deception: He was disbarred. Although a disciplinary review board recommended that Philip Morell receive a two-year suspension, the New Jersey Supreme Court ordered the higher penalty, partly based on the fact that Morell had previously been suspended for lying to another client. | | | |
