Expert claims Czuj drank 12-pack of beer

A then-17-year-old Hamburg Township male accused of killing a man in a 2005 drunken driving boating accident on Zukey Lake had consumed at least 10-12 beers prior to the accident, according to testimony by a toxicologist Tuesday. Grant William Czuj, now 19, is accused of operating the inboard speedboat on the Hamburg Township lake on July 23, 2005, that killed Michael John LaFave, 27, as the Brighton Township man sat on a pontoon boat tethered to a ski boat. Czuj also is accused of causing a crippling injury to Sarah Ribas of Howell.
